Copenhagen Fashion Week Sets Ethical Fashion Standard

Copenhagen Fashion Week is making headlines by taking a bold stand against the use of exotic skins, fur and feathers in fashion collections. Starting next year, brands featuring virgin fur, wild animal skins, or feathers will not be allowed to showcase their designs on the runways of the Danish capital.

This decision puts Copenhagen Fashion Week at the forefront of sustainability initiatives in the fashion industry. While other events and brands have implemented similar bans in recent years, Copenhagen's move marks a significant step forward, especially considering the city's strategic positioning as a leader in sustainable fashion.

The ban on exotic skins and feathers aligns with Copenhagen's existing eco-requirements for participating brands, which were introduced in 2020. These requirements include sourcing responsibly, designing for repairability and recyclability, and using more sustainable materials. By enforcing stricter sustainability standards, Copenhagen Fashion Week aims to promote a more ethical and environmentally conscious approach to fashion.

Copenhagen Fashion Week's dedication to sustainability serves as a compelling model for the entire fashion industry. We applaud this proactive stance as a significant step towards a more ethical approach to fashion production.
